Banish Under Eye Wrinkles With Laser Resurfacing

At our practice, the procedure has proven to help decrease facial wrinkles, acne scars, and balance skin tone. We use this technique by eliminating the skin layer with accuracy. During healing, the formation of new skin will take place, giving your skin a younger and tighter appearance.

The procedure is excellent for treating common complexion problems, including fine lines and hyperpigmentation. If you're looking for a way to eliminate those unsightly eye wrinkles under your eyes, it's time you scheduled an appointment with Dr. Jeffrey Fromowitz, MD, FAAD and his team for laser resurfacing.

What laser resurfacing involves

At Dermatology of Boca, we use the technique to enhance skin appearance or treat minor flaws by removing skin layers. We'll direct brief, concentrated light beams at irregular skin, while eliminating skin layers precisely.

As we age, our skin tends to lose its youthful appearance and elasticity, particularly around the eyes.

Excess sunlight exposure and other factors, including genetics, nutrition, and alcohol consumption can hasten the aging process as well. That's where our team of experts comes in. We use laser resurfacing, a safe and efficient technique to enhance our patients' skin appearance, by decreasing the extent and amount of eyelid and facial wrinkles.

We can conduct the technique using:

Non-ablative laser

The non-wounding laser promotes collagen development while tightening the underlying skin. It comprises numerous kinds of lasers and intense pulsed light or IPL devices. Although this form of resurfacing is less invasive and allows faster recovery, it's less effective when compared to the ablative type.

Ablative laser

The wounding laser eliminates thin skin layers. The types of treatments that fall under this group include the erbium and carbon dioxide laser.

Erbium Resurfacing for Eye Wrinkles

This form of resurfacing seeks to eliminate moderately deep and surface-level lines on the neck, face, hands, or chest. One of its advantages is that it's associated with the minimal burning of the adjacent tissue and allows for faster recovery time. In some instances, recovery might take a week.

When we treat a few parts of your face, the procedure will take approximately 30-45 minutes, while a full facial treatment is likely to take two hours. After the procedure, we'll bandage the treated areas, which you'll need to clean after 24 hours.

If you notice swelling after the procedure, it’s normal. In this case, we might prescribe steroids to manage the swelling around the eyes. Alternatively, you could sleep on an additional pillow to alleviate the swelling.

How to prepare for the procedure

The first thing you'll need to do is establish whether you're a suitable candidate. Our team of experts will inform you whether you qualify for the procedure. You're a suitable candidate if fine lines or wrinkles exist around your eyes, mouth, or on your forehead.

On the other hand, we might not recommend it if you have acne or stretch marks. If we determine that you're suitable, we'll advise you against taking any supplements or medications such as ibuprofen or aspirin that could affect clotting for days before the procedure.

If you're a smoker, we'll advise you to discontinue smoking for at least two weeks after and before the procedure because it could prolong healing. Before you undergo the procedure, our team will do the following:

Examine your medical history

Be ready to answer questions regarding past and current medical conditions as well as any medications you're currently taking or have taken recently. We'll also need to know whether you've undergone any cosmetic procedures in the past.

Conduct a physical exam

We'll inspect your skin and the area that deserves treatment. This will allow our team to establish the changes that need to take place and how your physical traits (skin tone and thickness) are likely to affect the results.

If you're seeking a solution for the wrinkles and fine lines on your face, Dr. Fromowitz and his team of experts are ready to provide a solution. You simply need to contact our Boca Raton office at 561-295-7080, or book online to schedule an appointment.
